Companies We Work With
Washington Contractor Insurance
With offices in Edmonds, Poulsbo and Sequim our contractor's insurance experts serve contractors doing business in and around Seattle and the entire State of Washington. By doing business with over thirty insurance companies, we understand the contractor insurance marketplace, carrier appetites and coverage forms available. Because the contractor insurance market is specialized, doing business with an agent that can access the entire marketplace and provide clear, reasonable and cost effective solutions is critical to the success of your business.
The State of Washington requires contractors to provide proof of liability insurance in order to maintain their license. Not only do we provide those certificates, our staff is registered with the Department of Labor & Industries to electronically upload proof of insurance and license bonds. By minimizing the delay in mail or fax services, our clients benefit through this efficiency and culture of instant service.
Through our experience, our contractor insurance experts, analyze exposures and place quality coverage in the most affordable manner. Our contractor insurance professionals not only provide the necessary coverage, they take the time to explain how the insurance coverage works, why and how we place coverage and discus the specific needs or concerns for your business. For some contractors that might mean a low down payment. For others it may be analyzing exposures, providing alternatives or helping with audits. For most it means creating a relationship where our contractor insurance clients keep us programmed in their cell phones and don't hesitate to call with questions, concerns and quite often to refer other contractors who will benefit from our contractor insurance expertise. The following types of coverage are common in many of our Contractor Insurance Policies:
General Liability - This is a requirement to do business in the State of Washington. This insurance coverage provides protection for damage that you do (or are alleged to have done) to other people or their belongings. Because of limitations in this policy form, certain classes of contractors may needs additional coverage to properly protect their interests. Our contractor insurance professionals will ask the appropriate questions and guide you through this decision making process to ensure that your policy includes the proper insurance coverage and endorsements.
Workers Compensation - While the State of Washington administers Workers Compensation through the department of Labor and Industries, your General Liability Insurance should have an endorsement called "Stop Gap Liability Coverage". Without adding this endorsement a deficiency exists between your Workers Compensation Insurance and you General Liability Insurance. This endorsement defends and pays judgments' if the contractor is named in a civil suit from an employee who is injured on the job. While this coverage is inexpensive, it is often overlooked and can be a major issue for business owners that have not added this coverage to their policy.
Property Insurance - Contactors insure their property on a variety of coverage forms depending on their specific needs. For property located at a specific location, our contractor insurance professionals will provide a property insurance form. For Contractor property that may move from jobsite to jobsite or for non-owned property placed in our contractors care, custody or control, our contractor insurance professionals will utilize an inland marine insurance form to provide the proper coverage.
Commercial Auto - Whether a contractor has a fleet of service vehicles or utilizes employees in their own vehicles, specific business risks arise that only a commercial auto policy can cover. While the basic policy might provide auto liability, medical coverage, uninsured motorist coverage, comprehensive and collision, essential endorsements should be added to provide for the liability arising out of non-owned, employee or hired vehicles. These endorsements are inexpensive and provide critical protection for the business.
Umbrella & Excess Coverage - More and more general contractors are requiring umbrella policies. Umbrella Liability Policies can be purchased in increments of $1,000,000 up to limits of $10,000,000 or higher. The umbrella liability coverage provides additional layers of liability protection over General Liability and Commercial Auto Coverage. If you are working in certain classes of construction or if your company has significant assets to protect, Umbrella Liability Policies are a worthwhile investment.
Because of the intricacies involved in each of these coverages and the specific coverage forms of each insurance company, a discussion with one of our contractor insurance specialists is recommended. To begin the process, please call one of or local offices or the main office at 1-800-688-7051 or just complete the form below to have a contractor insurance specialist contact you.
